Book Review

Brigid is having fun with her markers until she goes overboard and paints on herself with her super-indelible-never-comes-off-till-you're-dead markers. Nothing will remove the colour, so she finds the purple marker and covers up all the other colours. She looks better than before--too good to be true.

Purple, Green, and Yellow

I read Purple, Green, and Yellow to the class. The class loved the idea that Brigid was able to colour herself with felt markers. Lots of kids think about doing it but would never do it.

We decided that we would colour our faces with super-indelible-never-comes-off-till-you're-dead markers too. Check out our faces. They are "works of art."

Here are close-ups of two of the faces.

This is how we did it!

• Mrs. Hansen took a picture of our face with the digital camera. We were standing in front of a white background.

• She cropped the picture to show only a portion of a face.

• Mrs. Hansen adjusted the brightness of the photo so it would lighten the photo.

• Next, she printed the photo in black and white.

• We brought our super-indelible-never-comes-off-till-you're-dead markers from home. We shared our markers with the students that didn't have any.

• We went "crazy " with the markers and created our own unique designs.

• Our "faces" were mounted on construction paper and displayed in the hallway. Some moms even needed help finding their child's face. Each photo was assigned a number. Official entry forms were provided for the Who Am I? Contest. The first entry drawn out of the entry box with all the mystery faces correctly identified received an official Robert Munsch poster and a prize from Mrs. Hansen's treasure box. Amazing faces and lots of fun!!!!!
