The Paper Bag Princess
Before reading the story, students were asked to find out who the characters were in the story and the special characteristics of each one. After reading, the class completed character webs listing important traits for Elizabeth, Ronald, and the Dragon.

First, I explained the type of poetry we would be writing. Then each student reread the story to find who, what, when, where, and why for their favourite character in the story.
Next, using the 5W graphic organizer, each student wrote a rough draft.
Then, students revised and edited their poems.
Finally, they keyboarded their poems into a ClarisWorks document.
