Robert
Munsch

When we were
invited to join the Canadian Author Project, we picked our
favourite author, Bob Munsch.
Why is he our
favourite author at St. Benedict School?
Wellll....he
made one of his surprise visits to our school in 2001. Mrs.
Hansen was so shocked that when Robert Munsch introduced
himself, she just stood there speechless. Luckily, she did
recover and invited him into the grade two classroom. He
shared some of his stories, made up a story about the class,
answered questions, autographed one of his books, and
finally posed with the class before leaving for Jasper.
Will he ever
return? This is the question students ask every year since
that day in May when HE came to visit!

About
Our Author Study
Students
read or listened to a reading of a Robert Munsch
book. As a response to the story, each student
wrote a poem or illustrated a character in the
book.

responses.
As a
follow-up to our literacy work, we made A Bunch of
Munsch Quilt featuring our favourite characters.

Our
culminating activity was to write a letter to Bob
Munsch.
